I Can Hear Your Smile

I'm a little nervous about going to work tomorrow because I'll be conducting my first interview. I've got 3 lined up so far and I'm likely going to have a total of 5 by end of week. We need a new co-ordinator and I'm supposed to find one, and soon.

I didn't really think too much about it at first, but when I made that first call to schedule a meeting, I suddenly realized how this interview will directly impact someone's life. It's not like I'm helping to decide what colours should go on packaging or which movie to back in the summer (though we made some great reco's this summer - spiderman, pirates, transformers and simpson - all winners!). Those decisions don't really affect anyone.

But when I called to set up the interviews - I heard pure joy on the other line. They were so excited, enthusiastic and hopeful. So hopeful. No playing around - this is serious.

Also, I don't want to look like a dork infront of them, either. I'm going to have to work with them so I can't have them thinking I'm a space cadet who doesn't know what she's doing. First impressions can be so scary!

I'll admit that I'm a little excited, too. New blood in the office, especially when they're new to the industry, is so exciting. They have such a new and fresh take on things. Plus - they'll be YOUNG - which is great when we're brainstorming who or what will be hot a year from now.

I'll think I'll go to workopolis to see what questions they tell people to prepare for in interviews. :)
