I rode the GO Train the other day to and from work. I haven't been on a GO train in ages and it's funny the things you remember and the things you forget.
I remember the people who ran off the GO trains and made a mad dash across the parking lot to their cars, hoping to avoid the congestion when leaving the station. I remember punching my tickets 2 or 3 times because the machine keeps beeping. I remember reading the Metro until I reached Kipling station, where I would stop everything and take my much needed 20 minutes nap to union.
I couple of things I forgot about the GO ride included the panic I get when I arrive late at the station. The absolute panic as I speed walk (or break into walk/jog/walk, depending on how dire the lateness situation was) towards the entrance. I forgot how crowded it is getting off the GO train and entering union station. And I totally forgot how elated I'd be when I walked on the train in the morning and realized that I luked out and got on a car with the BIG headrests. Those things are KEY to having a good nap on the train!! The big ones are at least 3 inches taller than the standard head rests and have nicer padding to boot!
I'm pleased to say that on my very first ride into work, I broke into a HUGE smile when I got on the car and saw the elusive head rests. This was after I had speed walked across the lot and almost forgot to punch my pass, in my mad panic. ha ha.
