Heartache! Gary and I visited West Elm on the weekend to pick up my beloved light for the dining room. Sadly, my sister was right - it DID look like toilet paper up close. It looked cheap and very, very.. droopy. Now I have NO IDEA what to do with that room. The search continues!

I think that is the hardest thing about decorating a room. I have an idea, a tonality, a theme I want to create. I find pieces online and in magazines which are either too expensive or aren't available in Canada. I search for those pieces or replace them with items I think look similar. They may all have the same look and feel, but when thrown together, it might not gel. Something's missing to make the grouping cohesive. It's driving me nuts.

For example, found these super funky chairs at CasaLife. They work perfectly with the shaggy white rug I got, and pop against my blueberry walls. But it looks too funky for the delicate and elegant lamp. And while it works with the couch, it crowds it. Argh! No wonder they pay people to do this - decorating a room is a lot harder than I thought (it was muchos easier when I just had to match ikea furniture).

Back to the room = outfit metaphore.. I feel like I have a good outfit on, but something is off. Is something too short? Am I missing an accessory? Do the heels not work with outfit? Am I wearing white socks with black pants? Ai ya!!

I want to see your new repainted house!!!!!! I saw a dining room light that was pretty nice at the same mall as Forever Tea house. Doesn't work at our place since it's not a formal dining room.
