Well, I didn't run 6K. But I think I still did pretty well. When I got to the clinic, the 'leader' handed out maps that showed two routes. One of them was for a 4K run. My co-worker and I decided that since this was our first run with the group that we should probably just stick with what we know. :)
So we took off and let me tell you.. everyone runs at a much faster pace than I'm used to. Also, my usual route near my place has no hills whatsoever. But there are small (very small, you probably wouldn't call them 'hills') inclines on our new route. We planned to do 10 and 1's (10 minuntes running and then 1 minute walking) but ended up just doing 10 and 30's (as in 30 seconds!). We only rested if we came upon a red light.
I've never run a 4K that fast before and with so little breaks. So for me, the run was a success. However, I admit that about halfway through my run, I was thinking, 'What the hell am I doing? My legs are killing me! Why did I sign up for this?' I admit, this often happens when I start running again. But I know that when I push through the initial runs, I feel much better about them later. I even start to miss it if I go a long stretch without running.
LOL - actually, it's not just runs. Whenever I haven't done yoga in a while and start up again, there's always a moment in class when I'm in a downward dog position, sweat pouring down my face, and I think, 'what the hell am I doing? why'd I sign up for this??'.
Anyway - goal next week -5K run with the group!!

Great milestone! When that thought strikes you, you know then that you're expanding your limits. :)
