I broke 5km! I broke 5km! FINALLY. Today the Boy and I did our Sunday long run and did 7.6 km!! I'm so excited. Actually, I'm so exhausted. My legs are killing me right now. We ran from his place to Jarvis. Which I didn't even think I could do. But we did it with lots of short breaks (30sec here or there for red lights). Then we turned around and ran home. I was getting quite tired by the end of it, but I made it!
What amazes me is that my endurance seems to be fine. I'm not having problems breathing - in fact, we chatted the entire way. It's just that my muscles are not strong enough. I need to work those into shape.
Actually, I must admit that today's run was NOTHING compared to last Thursday. That was the day our running class did HILL TRAINING. It almost killed me. We ran about 15 minutes with no stops before we reached the 'hill'. It didn't look too bad. He said we run up the hill, touch the man hole cover and then run back down. That's one circuit. We had to do 3. I didn't think I'd have too much problems until we ran up the hill, turned the corner and realized that there was a LOT more hill to cover. The hill was waaay taller and steeper than what we saw when I was standing at the bottom. YIKES.
After about 2 circuits, I was ready to quit. And at that time, it wasn't my legs that were hurting, it was my lungs. Anyway, we made it up the hill. And then I walked for 2 blocks trying to catch my breath. Needless to say, there was NO chatting for a while. Then we ran back to where we started, maybe a 7 minute run. I was on auto pilot at that time. I don't think I felt my legs at all! :)
Anyway, the trek continues. This Thursday is Hill training again with 4 circuits. So not looking forward to it. But at least it makes all my other runs soo much simpler. :)
