Inspired

Over the weekend, the Boy and I went to a wedding where I wasn't part of the wedding party! It's funny because I didn't realize that the last 3 weddings I've attended, I was a bridesmaid. Anyway, sitting there as a guest with 3 other couples.. was pretty enlightening. First of all, only one of the couples were friends of ours, but the other two turned out to be pretty fun. Made me realize again how important seating arrangements are (funny because all the boys used to be co-workers of the brides. All of them had an Asian girlfriend. I guess our table was also the 'mixed couple' table - ha!).

Second thing I noticed was the menu and the centre piece. It was obvious that both were made by the wedding party - and it was great! I think I've been flipping through too many Martha Stewarts - for a while I started getting too caught up with all the things I needed to buy. This just reminded me that home made items are just as good and add a nice personal touch. :) So for those in the wedding party - look out! I may need your help in the weekends ahead. Love you guys!

Finally, the cake. The wedding party made hundreds of little cupcakes and they were SO tasty. Again, I'm not going to spend a bundle on a beautiful cake, because I realized most people won't even see it. I'll get a pretty cake, but I'm gonna make sure it tastes hella good! Because that's what I remember.

This weekend a lot of things just came together for me. I had some ideas for colours and dresses, but nothing definite. Maybe it was the wedding on Saturday and then the Wedding Show on Sunday, but by Sunday evening, I was inspired! New dress design (for the bridesmaids - it's drawn on a napkin), new colours, new ideas for favours, a general theme.. and the best part is, the Boy doesn't think I'm nuts. He likes the new direction..

I'm super excited!
