Last evening, I went for quick drinks and sushi with GJ. Everything started out fine, but just when we were wrapping up, it started to rain. Just a little pitter patter at first, but by the time we got the check, it was pouring! Sheets and sheets of water.
I remember Kinski telling me about the rain in HK once. Where the (warm) water comes down sideways, so fast and furious that it leaves at least an inch or two of water on the ground. Which of course splashes when the drops fall, making it feel like rain is coming from the ground, too! Well, that's what yesterday's rainfall looked like!
We sat by the window and watched 3 umbrellas overturn in the wind. That was just before the hail started. Crazy.
GJ and I ended up leaving the restaurant when their pipes backed up and water began flooding their bathrooms. I didn't even bother with the brolly and just ran the 30 feet into the Y&E Centre with a jacket on my head. Didn't help all that much. GJ and I looked like we just went swimming.
I hope everyone was indoors when the rain came and made it home (relatively) dry!
