Yay!
I got a good doctor today who not only examined my spots and took the time to do a thorough interview, he even brought in another doctor (older) to get a second opinion.
As Poon thought, it’s a simple virus. Not contagious and will run it’s course and disappear in a week or two. I have been told to use calamine lotion, oatmeal baths (the stuff you use for chicken pox) and got pills to help stop the spreading and itchiness.
It’s called: Pityriasis rosea
Ding had it 10 years ago. But I don’t have a ‘herald patch’, which is why we originally didn’t think I had the same thing as Ding.
Anyway – best present ever – to be taken seriously at the doctor’s office AND given a diagnosis with treatment options! YAY.
BTW: showed them the cortizone stuff the walk-in guy gave me and they told me to stop using it. Apparently its okay for smaller areas, but since I have so many dots, I’m putting way too much cortizone on my skin. He’s like, ‘these are basically steroids. You don’t want to have that much steroids in your system’. PLUS they can discolour the skin.
I HATE THE WALK IN CLINIC DOCTOR!
