Bringing the great outdoors.. inside

On Thursday, Gary and I went to Royal Lighting to check out some lights. I've driven past this store before, but was hesitant to go in, since it looked expensive (it's located next to a Pusateri's: cha-ching!). However, my co-worker said it was having a sale, so we decided to check it out.

Admittedly, Royal Lighting did have some of the nicest lights we've seen so far. And some of the lights were super expensive. We must have been in the store only 2 minutes before we spotted the biggest disco ball I've ever seen. It was 5 feet tall and made of hundreds of crystals. I assume they were crystals because the sale price was $37,999.99!! $40K for a light fixture?? Crazy! I'd rather spend that money on a car!

We kept looking and actually ended up buying 7 light fixtures. The sales were amazing! Plus, Gary and I have discovered how to really save money - buy outdoor fixtures!! I had wanted some cool hanging lights for our hallway and spotted a few for $150 - $200 on sale. I liked them, but felt they were too delicate. I wanted something more textured and weathered. When we got to the outdoor lighting, I saw exactly what I was looking for. Who cares if they are outdoor lights? They're beautiful! Plus, they were on sale! My hallway lights were only $59! We ended up buying lights for the hallway (2), main entry, den, backyard, porch and outdoor garage light.

We also found the mirror for the living room! I've been searching for a mirror roughly 3' x 4' with a silver coloured frame. The ones I found were over $500, or were too big, too small or in black. I was going to give up and just buy two smaller mirrors at home depot and put them together. But Royal lighting had the perfect mirror, on sale for $129. Done!!!

Now all we have to do is.. gulp.. put up the lights. I'm no electrician - I'm much better at putting Ikea furniture together. It's already proving to be a bit of challenge. As I type this, Gary is out buying 'Chain Pliers'. We tried to put the lights up by using regular pliers, but it didn't work. Sigh. I don't think we'll end up getting all 7 lights up today. Now I'm hoping we get at least 1!
