Yesterday, Jamers planned a surprise dinner party for my sister! The best part was asking our friend, Jaaron, to cook the meal - AMAZING. Jaaron used to be a sous chef at various restaurants and private clubs in the GTA. And needless to say, it was mouthwatering good.
And Candice was very, very touched. Not only did she come home to a wonderful smelling house, but we had set up her coffee table with cushions all around. Since we were eating semi-asian fare, we thought it would be cool to sit on the floor (like the japanese!).
Course 1: Portbello mushrooms (the size of your fist!) with garlic and sauce. It was sooo juicy and flavourful. And it went well with the chianti classico the Boy brought.
Course 2: Fried wasabi mashed potatoes and pork skewers in a maple soy glaze. This was my favourite - the flavours were amazing!! And the potatoes were killer! So glad I brought tuppeware (ha!)
Course 3: Seared tuna steak with a wasabi mayo sauce, and these great stirfried shiitake mushrooms with hot peppers and chives. Amazing. And the chives were grown by the Boy in our herb garden!! And it went So well with the Cave Springs Reisling!
Course 4: Hot pepper and garlic, lemongrass shrimp with onions - sooo hot but sooo goood. It would have been perfect with rice, but we were too full.
Course 5: Blueberry pie from the Apple Factory with cool whip. Nothing beats freshly baked pie!
Amazing, Amazing dinner. THANK YOU, Jaaron!
