All dressed up and holding a flashlight

I went to try on my wedding dress last night!
So exciting - especially since I didn't remember exactly what it looked like. Ding and I met up at the store and she scolded me for planning to go on my own. I didn't want to inconvenience anyone, and I figured it would only take 10 - 20 minutes. In and out, right?

Not exactly. First I tried on the dress and then my shoes from HK. Looked great - but didn't work out. Maybe because they were from HK and cheap (though not cheap looking), the quality was bad. My feet were sweating in 5 minutes!! Plus, they were short - only 2 inches. I was thinking about buying new shoes when the seamstressed announced that she needed to hem my dress by an inch. An inch?? Never mind. I'll spend $75 on new 3" inch heels instead of $300 on a new hem.

Then they began bustling my dress at the back. Took about 20 minutes to get it right. While they were doing that, I had been given a mirror to hold up so I could see the back. They were just about finished when - Bam - all the lights went out. Black out. After about 20 minutes we realized two things:
1) Shining flashlights at your dress doesn't work - I still couldn't see the back well
2) the lights weren't coming back anytime soon

So we left and made another appointment. I tried to make it this weekend since one of my bridesmaids is coming home this weekend (from NYC!), but it was all booked. Oh well. I look forward to trying it again it next week. And bonus - I get to go shoe shopping!
