Justice of the Peace

So many things to write about and so little time. I think for today, I'm just going to vent a little bit about my wedding ceremony. We booked the chapel, went to the marriage course, met with the priest.. etc, etc. And on Monday, the priest tells us that he's actually not received 'approval' for him to preform our ceremony. Excuse me??

Because our chapel is not a catholic one, he may not get the approval. Are you kidding me? It's less than a month away and you're telling us this NOW? His suggestion for our 'back up' plan is to get a justice of the peace on standby. ahh...

He says that if he doesn't hear anything, he'll assume all is well and preform the ceremony. If he hears otherwise, he'll attend the church, do the whole ceremony thing, but when it's time to do the vows, we need to have a justice of the peace there. That means that if he hears from the church two days before the wedding, I've got to find a JotP. WHERE?? HOW?? ON STANDBY??

I was at work and wondered out loud if I could just get some good friend of mine to be registered to preform the vow part.. like with Joey on Friends. I wonder.. can that happen? Or will the church poo-poo it??

So, does anyone know a JotP??

arggghhh!!

Wow, that really sucks. Talk about inappropriately withholding important information!

I hope you find a backup soon!
